Barcelona vice-president slams Ronaldo comments

Jordi Mestre insists none of the Catalans’ players would blame defeat on their team-mates as the Real Madrid star appeared to do on Saturday.

Barcelona vice-president Jordi Mestre has criticised Cristiano Ronaldo for blaming Real Madrid’s La Liga woes on his team-mates, claiming none of the Catalan club’s players would ever do the same.

Madrid slipped to a 1-0 defeat to city rivals Atletico on Saturday thanks to a second-half strike from Antoine Griezmann.

That result, combined with Barca’s 2-1 win over Sevilla on Sunday, leaves Madrid in third place, 12 points adrift of Luis Enrique’s leaders.

And Ronaldo was quick to point the finger at his colleagues following their loss at the Santiago Bernabeu, saying “if everyone was at my level, perhaps we would be first”.

Ronaldo has since attempted to clarify his comments, insisting he was referring to the club’s injury situation and not performances.

However, Mestre told Movistar : “Our team’s players would never say what Cristiano said. The club monitors a lot of things before signing players.

“Honestly, I could not imagine one of our players saying what Cristiano said.”

Asked about Barca’s commanding eight-point lead over Atletico at the top, Mestre added: “La Liga is not won at the end of February. That’s not a cliche, it’s true because we could slip up and I’m sure Real Madrid will bounce back. There are no free meals here.”

CHRIS-VINCENT Slams Jay Foley And Lexis Bill For Mocking Abraham Attah’s Oscar Speech

CHRIS-VINCENT Slams Jay Foley And Lexis Bill For Mocking Abraham Attah’s Oscar Speech: ‘Where Has The Fake Accents Of These Local Champions Ever Taken Them?’

Young Abraham Attah has been globe-trotting the past few weeks, notching up awards and running in top circles; but it seems for some that is not enough.

Attah presented an award during Sunday night’s Academy Awards in Los Angeles, and had some words to say on the night.

Purportedly perceived as having jumbled some words, Live Fm’s Jay Foley, Joy Fm’s Lexis Bill and MzGee reportedly criticised Attah’s performance on the grandest stage of them all.

In a sharply worded rebuttal to their utterances, Chris-Vincent Agyapong Febiri has laid into these three for their uniquely Ghanaian ‘pull him down’ antics.

The notably hard hitting Agyapong did not mince much words in laying waste to the three, who decided to ignore all the good the young Attah has achieved to concentrate of some perceived mistakes.

He wrote on Facebook:

“I am told Jay Foley of LIVE FM, Lexis Bill of JOY FM and some other human being called MzGee ridiculed young Ghanaian-Hollywood actor-Abraham Attah’s Oscar’s speech because he fumbled and somewhat got his words and sentences wrong.

These people who have not lived more than a year out of Ghana sit on radio with their FAKE accents and have the audacity to laugh at a 15 year old; once a street vendor who today mingles with some of the biggest international stars of our time.

Apart from seeing Leo, Stallone and others on TV; where would any of these people reasonably ever see them?

Where has the fake accents of these local champions ever taken them?

Beyond Accra where lack of interesting competition makes them feel they are on top, what has been their achievements?

Ironically, Jay Foley went to just BET last year as a ‘lame’ third world reporter and returned to Ghana as a god, proud of this insignificant accomplishment.

Yet he reportedly ridiculed a 15 year old who has been to places that his generation to come may only dream of.

And Lexis Bill, really? You actually did that?

A single movie opportunity and Abraham Attah has won almost every big award he was nominated for—his first Oscar appearance and he was made to present an award at the biggest award show in the world.

Out of his first Oscar appearance, he made a deal with TOMS on the basis that he would wear their shoes for Academy Awards and they will provide 10,000 pair of shoes for needy children in Ghana.

In just a year, the boy has been mentioned by every reputable media outlet out there—from BBC to CNN, via MailOnline and the others.

And you people mock him for some sentence displacement?

Lexis Bill, it was only this year that you had the opportunity to visit London—Abraham has visited every city that matters.

You went to take a look at the BBC building while you were in London and it was a big deal for you and the various Ghanaian media houses who published photos. Abraham does not go to look at buildings, he is chased for interviews—and he is recognised for his superior talent.

‘Jada Smith Pinkett did not even receive an Oscar invitation’ but Abraham did..

Earlier today,  actress Yvonne Okoro confessing on instagram that, Abraham Attah is living her dreams and that of all her colleagues. They’ve all been wishing for this their entire career and the boy from no where, with little education and absolutely no background in movies just got it—and you people cut him down?

I will be going to the biggest film festival in the world, the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in France in a few weeks and guess what, I will proudly be talking to everyone who bothers to make a conversation with me about Abraham Attah. Because, they would have heard of him, seen him and admired his brilliance—from the biggest Film Critics in the world to the Film-makers, Stars and Enthusiasts.

You people, who knows you beyond your frequencies that do not even reach Togo?

Charley; let me leave it! What a bunch of losers…

Off to watch Marco Polo!”

Relocate Abraham Attah To America, He Can’t Make It In Ghana – Leila Djansi

leila-djansi

Controversial movie-maker, Leila Djansi has advisedCary Fukunaga, director for Abraham Attah’s breakthrough movie, ‘Beasts Of No Nation’ to relocate the Dansoman boy to America because “his career cannot be sustained in Ghana”.

The Ghanaian-born American-based movie producer in a Facebook post on Monday expressed her joy for the boy who was at the 88th Oscars to present an award.

In her post titled “LOOKING FORWARD TO GHANA AT THE OSCARS … ONE DAY.”, she also cried for the boy who won Best actor award last Saturday at the Independent Spirit Awards.

I AM SO HAPPY FOR ABRAHAM ATTAH. I AM ALSO SAD FOR HIM AT THE SAME TIME. BECAUSE, UNFORTUNATELY, UNLESS CARY AND CO MAKE THAT SMART DECISION TO RELOCATE ABRAHAM ATTAH TO THE US, HIS CAREER CANNOT BE SUSTAINED IN GHANA. IT’S MONDAY Y’ALL. AWARD SEASON IS OVER. DONE. ROLES FOR HIM ARE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN IN HOLLYWOOD IF HE IS NOT VISIBLE. IT’S HARD FOR CHILD STARS.

She continued to list factors she thinks Ghanaian movie-makers should follow in order to also get to the Oscars.

Below is an unedited post Leila Djansi posted on Facebook

LOOKING FORWARD TO GHANA AT THE OSCARS … ONE DAY.

Here I go again. Anyone ready to make any videos? 3-2-1…

It’s exciting to see Ghanaians all excited and staying up to watch the Oscars and its kinda sad to see them make these sacrifices knowing the people they’re watching have never seen nor heard of them.

Instead of standing in the bleachers and screaming fan based shoutouts, ask for a place at the table.

Yep, Leila is too known. Someone has to put her in her place. Leila has to conform to Ghana standards, where is Stella Den-something when you need her; blah blah blah.

But when you stand outside the crowd and you see the HUGE opportunity to advance that they’re missing, you weep. I would LOVE to be in Ghana and make movies from there and be close to my family instead of here in America where you don’t know when some trigger happy cop is going to off you cos you’re black. But the way some of us make films, Ghana cannot sustain us. I cannot hire a crew of 50 people, a cast of 100+ and not be able to make any money back or have them good/skilled enough for a smooth flow production.

You want to see Ghana films travel? how about telling ourselves the truth and stop throwing tantrums when someone does?

1. Lets make better movies. Enough of the vanity, love and fashion movies. We have so many stories to tell. Azumah Nelson, Yaa Asantewa, Kwame Nkrumah, Rawlings, Nana Konadu… It should not take 3 white kids to come to Ghana and make “Nakom” before a film shot in Ghana will make it to a major festival.

Let us be honest. We make terrible films. (I do too). Let us learn how to tell stories and tell them well. Let us tell honest stories. Not forced ones, but stories that hit close to home. Look at films from Francophone Africa. Honest stories have legs.

2. UNITY. Can we hold hands and sing Peace like a river please? The industry is too individualized. Everyone is serving their own self. Opera Square got it right when they created a foundation to sustain the kind of movies they make. But, there are different people in the mix. Since a group of people stopped the film bill from traveling any further and the industry is stuck under opera square, so be it. But it’s kinda like having a phone that is not Facebook capable when you need one that is Facebook capable. Opera square is great for a certain style of filmmaking. It cannot accommodate the new ways so it has to evolve to sustain everyone. If someone makes a movie on $50,000 why should he sell it for ¢5? But if another makes a movie 0n 5000 dollars and sells it for 5ghc, he can break even. Let’s create an industry that supports everyone, or set up tiers.

3. EDUCATION and TRAINING. I will never stop saying this because I have never seen anything like it… When an AD asks permission to go take a nap whiles we’re shooting, or when an AD spends all his time taking pictures even when talent is on set…you know something is wrong. We need well trained crew. Crew who understand the ETHICS of their departments. Not the glory of posing beside the camera, but the getting the work done and done right type of crew.

4. This is what I said and the calvary got galvanized. Globalization has taken over African filming. It’s no longer relegated to Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya or SA. We are making movies that cross borders. How about we create a faction? Because you cannot carry everyone along. Not everyone wants to change. Like minded people could form a coalition, brand that coalition. advertise it, start with the festivals, send the coalition to panels, create strategies to sell our films far and wide. Make it visible. Show the world Africa is more than war and HIV… Give the power to the producer, not the distributor who holds your film for 5 years and pays you peanuts. The coalition has rules, you want a members’ film, these are our rules…

The Academy is changing it’s rules and going for diversity and inclusion. Africa deserves a place at the table. Not at the fashion and party table with the kids, but at the grown up table. But… we are going to have to put in the work.

The oscars are closer than you think. Ask Abraham and Lupita.

No More Whatsapp On Blackberry and Nokia Phones… See Why

Popular chat application on smartphones, Whatsapp is set for discontinuation this year following a pronouncement by the company.

nokia-lumia-vs-blackberry

Earlier this week Whatsapp celebrated its 7th year anniversary with its 1 Billion Active users, instead to break a bad news on such a good day, the team decided to wait till on Friday when they announced that the app will soon be discontinued on BlackBerry and Nokia devices running those company’s operating systems.Yes! that include the Blackberry 10 device. Though the new Android-powered Blackberry Priv slider phone might probaly survive this heat because it was built with Android OS.

According to the annoucement made by Whatsapp:

As we look ahead to our next seven years, we want to focus our efforts on the mobile platforms the vast majority of people use. So, by the end of 2016, we will be ending support for WhatsApp Messenger on the following mobile platforms:

1. BlackBerry, including BlackBerry 10

2. Nokia S40

3. Nokia Symbian S60

4. Android 2.1 and Android 2.2

5. Windows Phone 7.1

While these mobile devices have been an important part of our story, they don’t offer the kind of capabilities we need to expand our app’s features in the future.

The Nokia S40 discontinuation will deeply affect developing countries like Nigeria because most people still use old Nokia phone. The likes of Nokia asha 200 and 203, Nokia 6100, 6200, Nokia c2 and c3 just to mention a few.

I know most of us still love our old nokia phones. WhatsApp suggests“upgrading to a newer Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone” if you want to keep on using the service — if not, you’ll need to find another messaging service by the end of the year before the service get discontinued.

Magical Moments Of Abraham Attah Over The Weekend

Actress, Yvonne Okyere-Whalley Sues KLM

Yvonne Okyere-Whalley

Lawyer/ Actress, Yvonne Okyere-Whalley, has sued KLM Royal Dutch Airlines at an Accra High Court for an alleged racial discrimination.

Yvonne, who is of Ghanaian descent, alleges that contrary to provisions in the 1992 Constitution, International Airline Conventions, KLM’s own Mission Statement as well as their Terms and Conditions of Carriage, KLM racially discriminated against her by treating her differently to other European/ non-black passengers and further failed to provide a safe environment by putting her personal safety at risk whiles onboard.

According to the Statement of Claim from the High Court dated 14th December 2015, the actress who is currently practicing Law in Ghana, booked economy tickets from Accra to the UK via Amsterdam with her husband. It is alleged that during the return journey on 15th February 2015, she was subjected to direct and indirect discrimination by KLM’s cabin crew member based on her race, colour and place of origin. Yvonne avers in her Statement of Claim that the cabin crew member granted privileges to European/non-black passengers while she was refused that same treatment.

According to Yvonne’s Statement, the cabin crew member disrespected her by continuing to pour out the entire content of her bottled drink when she had clearly asked otherwise and walked away as Yvonne was still talking to her.

Due to this treatment, Yvonne complained to the Purser (senior cabin crew member) who confirmed that KLM has a policy which restricts certain passengers’ choice of beverages and how beverages are consumed when travelling to either Ghana or Nigeria ‘as passengers on these routes had a tendency to take advantage of the drinks and take them home’.”

When Yvonne questioned the Purser about the criteria used when applying this alleged policy, the Purser confirmed that there are no formal criteria used when deciding who should be refused the reduced service as it is based on the cabin crew members’ instincts or perception.

However, after listening to what ensued between Yvonne and the cabin crew member, the Purser asked the cabin crew member in question to apologise to Yvonne, but she refused to do so. The Purser, whose authority has now been called into question, confirmed to Yvonne and her husband that a formal report would be made of the incident.

Yvonne claims that the cabin crew member started talking to another white male passenger behind her seat, and incited inappropriate racial attack on her, putting her personal safety at risk. She asserts that the white male passenger then started attacking her verbally in clear view and hearing of other passengers onboard and deliberately and physically obstructed her passage to the toilets.

Yvonne avers that other passengers who were appalled by the white male passenger’s behavior called onboard security officer who eventually controlled the white male passenger and moved him to another seat at the back of the aircraft.

Yvonne claims that KLM’s alleged new policy, the cabin crew member’s blatant act of discrimination, and the attack by the white male passenger caused her much anxiety, emotional distress, fear, humiliation and injury to feelings. The case continues in court.
